Classical Chamber Music and Concertos

Once praised by The New York Times as being “the most ambitious” amateur chorus in Westchester, the Hudson Valley Singers has been enriching the cultural life of Westchester and Manhattan since its debut concert in Hastings-on-Hudson in March 1951.  HVS performs classical choral music of the 17th through 20th centuries, under the direction of Eugene Sirotkine, formerly Assistant Chorusmaster at the Metropolitan Opera.  Each Year the group presents two concerts in the lower Hudson Valley. The Hudson Valley Singers goals are to educate and entertain the community with top quality choral performances and to provide their amateur singers with professional guidance and instruction.

Jon Riss

Jon’s annual RiverArts Music Tour organ recital is BACK!

Conductor and Organist Jon Riss, FAGO, ChM, was appointed as Director of Music at Irvington Presbyterian Church in November of 2016.

Mr. Riss received the 2013 American Guild of Organists Choir Master Prize for the highest overall score nationwide on the Guild’s day-long written and practical exam in choral conducting, and was awarded 2nd Prize in the 2009 American Choral Directors Association National Student Conducting Competition, Undergraduate Division.

Organ & piano

Nicolas Neff studied the organ as a piano major at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry. He also took organ lessons at Grace Episcopal Church, White Plains while studying at the Music Conservatory of Westchester. Nick started as the Organist for DFLC in 2016 – a church that he loves for its musical heritage, especially compositions by Martin Luther. Recently, the organ had much needed renovations and an oboe was added through a generous gift from Nick in memory of his late mother, Barbara Neff.
